In today’s digital age, advanced health solutions powered by fast, accessible Internet (e.g., telehealth, next-generation mobile health applications, remote patient monitoring, hospital at home) are transforming how Americans prevent and manage serious health conditions.

The series of Insight Maps featured here illustrate at a glance where broadband connectivity gaps and health needs may intersect, and where targeted infrastructure investments in broadband (including by the private sector) could make the difference—especially in rural, tribal, and low-income communities.

By leveraging these Insight Maps and exploring the data behind them, stakeholders can target efforts to enhance broadband connectivity for health and promote connected care. The series explores three key themes:

• Identifying Priority Counties to Promote Data-Driven Decision-Making: Pinpoint counties with higher health needs and lower broadband connectivity metrics, including in rural, tribal, and low-income areas.
• Enhancing and Leveraging Broadband Connectivity for Health: Visualize the potential for cross-cutting collaboration within and across geographic boundaries and the public and private sectors to enable next-generation telehealth programs and services, improving healthcare access and reducing costs.
• Bridging the Digital Divide in Rural and Unserved Areas: Support and target efforts to ensure that all Americans—regardless of where they live—have the opportunity to access broadband-enabled interventions and live healthier, longer lives.
